A Student "Powered by PechaKucha" Event Featuring University of Maine and Husson University Students
In partnership with the University of Maine and Husson University, the Informed Young Leaders (IYL) Series from Confidence in Leadership™ is organizing a student “Powered by PechaKucha” event on the theme of “Re-Imagining Education for the 21st Century” to be held on April 20th, 2016 in Downtown Bangor. We invite student proposals for a PechaKucha style presentation on any aspect of this important topic.
What is a “Powered by PechaKucha” Event?
“Powered by PechaKucha” events are one-off events that are separate from regular city-based PechaKucha Nights, and are usually held as part of festivals and conferences, but can also act as standalone events. These events include presentations that use the PechaKucha 20 images x 20 seconds format.Find out more at PechaKucha.org.
How does it work?
The PechaKucha format is a simple one where you show 20 images each for 20 seconds and the images advance automatically. You present along with the images.
Why should I do this?
This is an opportunity to develop expertise on an important topic. If your proposal is accepted, you will work with a set of community leaders who care about and understand this topic, and they will help prepare you to present your idea to an enthusiastic and interested audience. “Powered by PechaKucha Events” are fun, informal gatherings where you get a platform to share your ideas and perspectives.
How do I get started?
Click the “Call for Proposals” above for more information about the event and the theme. The “Resources” section of the website might be a good place to get started researching your topic or systematically thinking about what types of questions might make a good PechaKucha presentation.
How do I submit my proposal?
When you’re ready to submit your proposal, you can do so from this page by clicking “Submit Proposal.” If you have any questions, contact Rob Glover at firstname.lastname@example.org or (207) 581-1880. Proposals are due no later than October 30th.
